Axway Workbench preview

As a valued customer, we are sharing with you a preview of Axway Workbench, our newest addition to the Axway MFT family.   

What is Workbench and what does it do?

Workbench is a new product which provides centralized visibility, observability, and operational control across Axway MFT transfer products: Transfer CFT and SecureTransport. It offers a modern user experience, product health overviews, consolidated file tracking, proactive alerting, and SLA tracking. Workbench lays the groundwork for AI-assisted insights, helping MFT teams to shorten the gap between problem identification and resolution and simplifying complex file transfer operations.

 

Workbench will simplify and improve the administration, deployment, and operational support of Transfer CFT and SecureTransport:

  • Control across deployment types for transfer products and all environments that run Axway MFT
  • Empower the operational team with a modern user experience with visibility into the MFT ecosystem, including health overviews, end-to-end transfer monitoring, long-term analytics, and alerting
  • AI-driven ‘smart operations’ to optimize transfers, automate issue resolution, enhance decision-making
  • Enabling central management of multiple MFT products, reducing complexity and operational overhead
  • Pre-built capabilities that accelerate time-to-value, moving beyond basic visibility into actionable insights and automated resolutions

Visibility

  • 20k-foot view in a modern user interface
  • Product health status and metrics for Transfer CFT and SecureTransport
  • Transfer monitoring tailored to the MFT pattern

Workbench is Axway’s purpose-built MFT metadata collector with prebuilt observability, automated alerting, and centralized operational support. It’s designed to help IT and business users monitor, troubleshoot, and act on file transfer operations—without requiring complex setup or deep technical expertise.

 

  • Sentinel is a powerful toolkit for building custom dashboards and alerts. It’s ideal for users who want tailored visibility and have the technical expertise to configure it. Workbench, on the other hand, delivers ready-to-use operational insights and faster issue resolution by correlating data across services—helping teams diagnose problems in minutes, not hours.
  • Flow Manager focuses on flow design and configuration for specific products like Transfer CFT. It supports flow standardization for a subset of MFT users. Workbench goes further by offering centralized control, mass product actions, and deep health metrics across your MFT environment—helping prevent outages before they happen.
  • MFT Operational Intelligence (OI) provides visibility into your file transfers, but it requires specific configuration to unlock its value. Workbench builds on that by enabling real-time observability, proactive remediation, and cross-product insights—all from a single interface.

 

These tools are complementary. Workbench can run alongside existing solutions, and over time, you may choose to rely solely on Workbench as the unified MFT operations hub.

Workbench initially supports SecureTransport and Transfer CFT, with plans to expand support to additional Axway products over time. Future compatibility will be guided by roadmap evolution, customer demand prioritization—ensuring Workbench continues to meet the operational needs of MFT teams across diverse environments.

Workbench is deployed in AWS using containerized services orchestrated by Kubernetes. It leverages Aurora Serverless v2 with PostgreSQL for scalable data storage and integrates cloud-to-ground agents to support hybrid environments—making it flexible for both cloud-native and on-premises MFT infrastructures.

Direct comparison with Workbench is difficult. What makes Workbench unique is the combination of capabilities into one platform and its MFT-specific focus. Workbench is made up of visibility, observability and operational management features, where data meets capabilities.
