Connections 2009 in Review
By Jay Morris, VP, EMEA Marketing, and Lori Bush Shepard, VP, Corporate Communications, Axway
Axway held two successful customer conventions last fall, and we are delighted that so many of you joined us! Connections 2009 took place in Paris, France on October 7-8 and in Phoenix, Arizona on October 20-22. Participants from over 20 countries and all industry sectors gained valuable information from presentations by fellow customers, industry analysts and Axway experts. As you can see from the agendas (accessible through www.axwayconnections.com), some of the most innovative organizations in the world spoke at Connections, including AmerisourceBergen, Con-way, DB Schenker, HSBC France, Jabil, JD Williams, Kraft, and many more.
Feedback from attendees indicates that Connections provides an excellent opportunity to network with peers and Axway personnel, as well as to find information on—and demonstrations of—Axway's latest innovations.

Both conferences kicked off with a keynote presentation titled "Governing in a World of Integration & Collaboration" by L. Frank Kenney, then an analyst from leading IT research firm Gartner Inc. He was followed by Axway's CEO, Christophe Fabre, who introduced Axway's new Business Interaction Networks strategy and celebrated one of Axway's "rock stars" with an entertaining video. He also launched our latest offering, File Transfer Direct, which was demonstrated at the event. (See "File Transfer Direct — The Best of Both Worlds" article elsewhere in this issue.)
Another highlight of the conventions was the Predictions Panel, in which several of Axway's "rock stars" examined predictions made by leading analyst firms and pundits, and weighed in with their own predictions. In this interactive session, the audience members used a real-time electronic system to cast their votes on the predictions. (You can read more about this in the "Ask A Pro" column in this issue.)
Connections 2009 - Paris
At our EMEA convention, 10 Axway customers shared their case studies, including context, challenges and solutions. Topics included securing a monthly average of 9 trillion euros worth of transactions, tracking 80% of worldwide postal mail and optimizing service offerings through visibility, community management in a retail environment of 750 stores, the challenges of a logistics provider in handling 180 million messages per year through multi-enterprise collaboration, and much more.
Nine demonstrations offered an opportunity to discover up close how to handle end-to-end flow monitoring, track and trace compliance, business data improvement, email security, secure ad hoc large file exchanges, simplified customer and partner on-boarding, improved multi-channel payment flows, and how to justify business cases with an ROI/TCO calculator.
Connections 2009 - Phoenix
At Axway Connections Phoenix, we were pleased to feature 12 customer presentations/panels, covering such topics as the benefits of infrastructure consolidation, secure collaboration, using managed services to improve efficiency, applying visibility to deliver value and mitigate risks, leveraging Adaptive Community Management to enable distributed administration and rapid evolution of global electronic ecosystems, and securing compliance for evolving email security regulations. As always, the convention provided numerous networking opportunities, kicked off by a welcome reception at the historic Wrigley Mansion.
The convention also featured a partner pavilion and "Ask the Expert" stations, which offered product demos on B2Bi Express, File Transfer Direct, email security solutions, Sentinel, and mapping and provisioning services.
Many thanks to all of you who participated—especially to those who spoke or sponsored the events. We look forward to seeing you at the next Connections!
